Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Nurse II in Wound Care is an autonomous practitioner responsible for delivering specialized wound care that aligns with the mission and values of our organization. This role involves:

  • Providing individualized patient care while adhering to professional and regulatory standards.
  • Designing and implementing comprehensive wound care strategies for clinical staff and specific patient groups based on evidence-based practices.
  • Serving as a vital resource within the interdisciplinary team, focusing on optimizing patient outcomes through cost-effective strategies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Wound Care Leadership: Develop and support the Wound Champion role, providing consultative rounds on inpatient units as necessary.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and concise patient care documentation, guiding staff in proper data entry practices.
  • Wound Management: Lead staff in effective wound management techniques, conducting thorough skin assessments and implementing preventive strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster teamwork and communication among clinical staff, delegating tasks appropriately and promoting professional growth.
  • Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT): Manage NPWT for patients, demonstrating critical thinking and clinical skills in treatment scenarios.
  • Pressure Injury Care: Assess and stage pressure injuries, recommending evidence-based treatments and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Consultative Services: Provide expert consultations on wound and skin care, documenting findings and educating staff and patients on care strategies.
  • Ostomy Management: Implement strategies for managing ostomies and fistulas, ensuring effective containment and skin protection.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Maryland.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Certification as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience, particularly in wound care or rehabilitation.
