The Clinical Laboratory Technologist II plays a crucial role in executing a variety of both standard and intricate laboratory assessments. This position requires adherence to established operating procedures, policies, and regulatory standards to ensure accurate recording and reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a wide range of clinical laboratory tests, ensuring precision in execution and analysis, particularly for abnormal or atypical results.
- Support laboratory operations by addressing both pre-analytical and analytical needs as assigned.
- Facilitate the training and onboarding of new staff, current team members, students, and residents.
- Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, while monitoring quality control measures.
- Troubleshoot issues, providing expertise in equipment operation and testing protocols, along with specimen workflow management.
- Review laboratory requisitions and gather relevant clinical and medical data as necessary.
- Perform data entry and assist with routine clerical duties, including inventory management and order processing.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or a related field is required. Candidates with degrees in Biology, Chemistry, or Microbiology may be considered if they have completed clinical laboratory internships.
Experience:
- A minimum of 4 months to 1 year of relevant experience is required. Graduates with clinical lab rotations/internships are encouraged to apply.
- For those advancing from MLT to CLS II, a minimum of 2 years of experience is required, along with an AS degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Certification:
- Certification from ASCP or a similar agency is preferred but not mandatory for this level. MLT candidates advancing to CLS II must hold appropriate certification.
