Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Assistant

The Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Assistant will work under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner at Children's of Alabama. This role is ideal for students pursuing a career in respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform specified, limited respiratory therapy procedures as directed by licensed respiratory care practitioners.
  • Assist in the provision of care to patients and their families, adhering to institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Direct administrative supervision will be provided by the Respiratory Care Services Department Head.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program with completion of the first semester.
  • Prioritize completion of at least one pediatric clinical rotation in respiratory therapy for enhanced skills and knowledge.

Licensures and Certifications:

  • Submission of Verification of Employment and Verification of Enrollment forms to the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Active Basic Life Support certification.
