POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the registration of patients seeking services and manage all initial inquiries for the assigned departments. This position requires the collection of accurate demographic, financial, and medical information. The representative will redirect calls as necessary or schedule appointments when required. Additionally, they may assist in making referrals. A proactive approach to anticipating and addressing customer needs is essential to enhance the overall patient experience.

This role is accountable for registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures while coordinating various resources for patient services. Responsibilities may also include tasks related to prior authorization, referrals, estimates, and payments.


DUTIES:
  • Engage with patients during the registration process to ensure a positive experience.
  • Accurately obtain and input required registration information into the health system.
  • Efficiently obtain and document insurance verification details.
  • Promptly and professionally answer and direct incoming/outgoing calls.
  • Contact patients for appointment reminders or follow-up inquiries.
  • Manage paperwork associated with patient care.
  • Schedule appointments and provide necessary instructions to patients.
  • Perform administrative support tasks as needed.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for registering and scheduling patient encounters for provider services while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of 1 year of relevant customer-facing experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity with basic medical terminology is advantageous. Experience in call centers, patient scheduling, or front-office operations in a medical setting is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail, even under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and judgment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Physical Agility Test Rating (PAT). While on duty, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands, fingers, talk, and hear. They may need to exert force occasionally to move objects.
