POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary objective of this position is to facilitate the registration of patients seeking services and manage all initial inquiries for the assigned departments. This role involves collecting accurate demographic, financial, and medical information. The employee will redirect calls as necessary or schedule appointments when required. Additionally, they may assist in making referrals. This individual must be proactive in anticipating and addressing customer needs to enhance the overall patient experience.
Responsible for registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures and coordinating various resources for patient services. They may also handle tasks related to prior authorization, referrals, estimates, and payments.
DUTIES:
- Engage patients during registration to ensure a positive experience.
- Accurately obtain and input required registration information into the health system.
- Efficiently obtain and document insurance verification details.
- Promptly and professionally answer and direct incoming/outgoing calls.
- Contact patients for appointment reminders or follow-up inquiries.
- Manage paperwork related to patient care.
- Schedule appointments and provide necessary instructions to patients.
- Perform administrative support tasks as needed.
Accountable for registering and scheduling patient encounters for provider services while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of 1 year of relevant customer-facing experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity with basic medical terminology is advantageous. Experience in call centers, patient scheduling, or physician front-office roles is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail, even under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and judgment.
Light Physical Agility Test Rating (PAT). While on duty, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands, fingers, talk, and hear. They might need to exert force occasionally to move objects.
