PhD Researcher in Artificial Intelligence

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a member of our Intelligent Combat Platforms Group, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and next-generation platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop intelligent control and decision-making systems for autonomous air platforms
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and software developers to deliver powerful capabilities to the warfighter
- Contribute to the development of machine learning models and algorithms for autonomous systems
- Prototype and simulate AI systems using software development environments and real-time demonstrations
- Work on collaborative teams to develop next-generation autonomous air platforms
- PhD degree in a STEM area
- Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python
- Knowledge of software design patterns and machine learning algorithms
- Ability to obtain an interim Secret security clearance by start date
- Experience working with autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
- Proficiency in additional programming languages (C, C#, Java, MATLAB)
- Cloud computing and configuration management experience
- Certifications or internships in relevant fields
