We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning technologies to address complex challenges in defense and healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to solve real-world problems
- Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to brainstorm and explore new ideas
- Write and present research outcomes to sponsors and stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and deep learning
- Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or related field
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, Darknet, or TensorFlow
- Strong understanding of statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and other mathematical background relevant to theoretical machine learning
- Ability to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level security clearance
- Publications at conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICCV/ECCV, ICLR, AAAI, CVPR
- Experience with computer vision problems such as image classification/object detection
- Experience with few-shot learning, domain shift, uncertainty estimation, semi-supervised learning, or self-supervised learning
- Ph.D. or M.S. in math, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or related field
