About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Vocational Electives Specialist to join our team at New Freedom Behavioral Health. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting our members in achieving their vocational goals and promoting their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver vocational electives curriculum via group facilitation with members, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with department leadership and team members to develop, launch, and build out electives and workplace skills programming for members, aligning with our organization's mission and goals.
  • Facilitation and Support: Facilitate electives teaching and groups as needed across various subject matter areas, providing guidance and support to members in achieving their vocational objectives.
  • Enrollment and Scheduling: Complete administrative duties related to enrollment and scheduling for vocational electives, ensuring seamless coordination and communication with members and staff.
  • Partnerships and Outreach: Partner with outside employers interested in partnering and/or participating in our electives program(s), fostering relationships and opportunities for our members.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe members, listen to their concerns, record their observations, and report to mental health professionals about any unusual behavior(s), ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Recovery Support: Aide in various daily living activities to effectively support the re-entry and recovery processes, promoting members' overall well-being and success.
  • Goal Setting and Planning: Assist members in articulating personal goals for recovery using one-to-one and group sessions, identifying and creating goals, and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports, and resources to achieve those goals.
  • Transition Support: Assist members in working with their Transitional Services and Treatment Team to determine the steps that need to be taken to achieve their goals and self-directed recovery, ensuring a smooth transition to independence.
  • Self-Help and Support: Assist members in setting up and sustaining self-help (mutual support) groups, as well as a means of locating and joining existing groups, promoting a sense of community and connection.
  • Resource Development: Identify literature, media, and other resources to help members gain hope, learn to identify their strengths, and combat negative self-talk, providing a supportive and empowering environment.
  • Vocational Support: In direct partnership with the Transitional Services team, effectively support members' vocational choices and assist them in choosing a job that matches their strengths, overcoming job-related anxiety by reviewing job applications, and providing interview tips.
  • Social Skills Development: Assist members in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition and tenure, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Safety and Security: Maintain safety for themselves and their members, which can include securing documents, files, and effectively deescalating members and/or complex situations, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
  • Transportation and Logistics: When required and assigned by management, transport members to their approved destinations, maintaining a safe and clean vehicle and using navigation apps to determine the best route.
  • Performance and Quality: Effectively meet any/all outlined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring the highest quality and level of member care and engagement is provided, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Clinical Supervision and Oversight: Receive and actively engage in clinical supervision and oversight each week/month based on BHPP/BHT designation requirements, including completion of all continuing education requirements, ensuring ongoing professional development and growth.
