We are in search of a proficient and qualified Japanese Court Interpreter to offer precise and dependable interpretation services within legal environments for a contracted role. The successful applicant will have a comprehensive grasp of legal jargon, outstanding language skills in both Japanese and English, and the capability to uphold neutrality and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities & Required Qualifications
  • Facilitate consecutive interpretation from Japanese to English and vice versa during judicial proceedings, including trials, hearings, depositions, and meetings between clients and attorneys.
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of spoken and written communications, maintaining clarity and fidelity to the original message.
Essential Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional interpreting experience, ideally in a legal or courtroom context.
  • Demonstrated history of providing accurate and trustworthy interpretation and translation services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification from a recognized interpreting and translating organization (e.g., NAJIT, ATA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in a law enforcement or legal setting.
  • Experience in providing interpretation in potentially contentious situations.
Work Environment
  • On-site.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent talking, sitting, and writing.
