Job Description

JOB TITLE: FACILITY MANAGER

FLSA: EXEMPT

DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES DEPARTMENT

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES

LOCATION: BRONX, NY

SUMMARY:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all administrative and technical building-related operations, including supervising custodial and maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with NYC Local Law requirements, and coordinating with contractors and vendors for scheduled maintenance. The FM will maintain the property in a decent, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate maintenance and custodial staff.
  • Obtain bids for repair and maintenance tasks, adhering to DHS and Westhab policies.
  • Monitor vendors/contractors for work performance and obtain bids for new contracts.
  • Conduct regular building inspections, interior/exterior, roof to cellar, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Coordinate regular room/floor inspections.
  • Work closely with the Program Director and others to ensure satisfactory results in RSRI and combined shelter inspections.
  • Ensure all NYC Local Law requirements are met to keep the building free of new violations.
  • Assist Security staff with regular Fire Drills as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or their designee.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field, plus 8 years' experience in Facilities Management with supervisory experience required. Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Facilities Management principles and practices. Ideal candidate with prior experience working in or with DHS shelter properties and knowledge of DHS operation requirements, including RSRI and combined inspections. Prior NYC facilities management is required due to extensive Local Law code requirements.
