The role of the Territory Manager is crucial in nurturing customer relationships within a collaborative sales framework. This position involves managing delivery schedules as outlined by the logistics team and addressing any issues that may arise during the order fulfillment process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance customer engagement through a team-oriented sales approach.
- Oversee delivery operations, ensuring adherence to the routing schedule and resolving any discrepancies such as delivery errors or inventory shortages.
- Facilitate communication regarding accounts receivable, collaborating with the credit department and clients to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Utilize available resources to capitalize on high-potential opportunities and establish new client accounts.
- Identify and pursue new business prospects by leveraging market intelligence, business directories, and networking opportunities, including participation in industry events.
- Stay informed about market trends, product developments, and competitor offerings, sharing valuable insights with customers.
- Travel to meet with existing and potential clients to ensure product delivery, which may involve lifting and transporting items weighing up to 75 lbs.
Supervision:
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.
Relationships:
Internal: Collaborate with District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, VP of Local Sales, Accounting/Credit Department, Merchandising and Marketing, Operations, and Customer Contact.
External: Engage with customers, vendors, and potential clients.
Work Environment:
Regularly work outside of the office, engaging with clients in various weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred experience of at least 1 year in sales.
- Background in foodservice, culinary arts, restaurant management, or hospitality is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective presentation capabilities.
- Ability to cultivate relationships and conduct cold calls to generate new business.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Results-oriented mindset with a competitive spirit.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Team-oriented approach to collaborating with internal and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, such as Salesforce.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Licenses:
A valid driver's license is mandatory, and a clean motor vehicle record is required.
