Purpose: The Senior Vice President of Retail Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the retail division. This role collaborates with the executive team to formulate and implement strategic initiatives and operational plans. The position emphasizes mentorship and development of team members while fostering strong internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations and performance metrics for retail locations, donation centers, warehouses, transportation, recycling, online sales, and outlet stores.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the retail division, engaging with stakeholders and representing the organization in relevant forums.
  • Provide analytical oversight of retail operations, ensuring profitability and developing strategies to address underperformance.
  • Guide the retail team in establishing and achieving both short-term and long-term operational goals.
  • Supervise managers to ensure achievement of financial targets and budgetary compliance.
  • Conduct monthly financial performance reviews and devise improvement plans based on key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with retail leadership to enhance product presentation and sales strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administer employment decisions and organizational programs in line with company policies.
  • Work closely with transportation and warehouse teams to meet retail operational needs.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard company assets and minimize losses.
  • Collaborate with the COO to strategize retail expansion and oversee new store openings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations governing the sale of secondhand goods.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and team activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Retail Management, or a related field, with a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in retail or a similar sector. At least five years of supervisory experience is required. Experience in thrift retail is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to manage operations across multiple locations effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop business communications and policies.
  • Experience in analyzing complex financial data and making informed decisions.
  • Adept at working in a dynamic environment and adapting to changes in the retail landscape.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth understanding of the secondhand retail market, including trends and competitive analysis.
  • Expertise in pricing strategies for pre-owned merchandise.
Work Environment: The role is primarily office-based but requires frequent travel to retail locations. Physical demands include sedentary work, occasional standing, and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
