Job Overview

Role: Senior Automation/Controls Engineer

Industry: Battery Technology

Location: Texas

Salary: $150k-170k

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and sustain automation and control systems.
  • Deliver on-site technical assistance.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external partners.

Core Duties:

Development of Control Systems:

  • Lead initiatives as the primary subject matter expert.
  • Engage with stakeholders to create detailed specifications.
  • Convert specifications into hardware, software, and services.
  • Establish standards for automation and control.

Delivery of Control Systems:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to implement required systems.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers and clients.

Integration of Control Systems:

  • Supervise the integration of industrial control systems within IT frameworks.

Validation of Control Systems:

  • Integrate, commission, and initiate control systems.
  • Assist in validation processes.

Troubleshooting and Support for Control Systems:

  • Lead or assist in diagnosing and enhancing control systems.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in controls engineering and design (SCADA, PLC, HMI systems), preferably with Siemens PLC.
  • Proficient in designing control systems and PLC programming.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, and various communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Understanding of process instrumentation.
  • Experience with controls and equipment integration, commissioning, and startup.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (NFPA/NEC, UL, OSHA).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage vendors and suppliers.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation/Controls, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems.
