Skin Care Technician

Role Summary:
The Dermatology Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing patient experiences by managing intake processes, documenting patient information for healthcare providers, and assisting in clinical settings. This position encompasses both administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring that patients receive exceptional care in a respectful and friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient intake and verify medication histories.
- Assist in treatment protocols, including preparing and administering medications under provider supervision.
- Perform clinical tasks such as suture removals, blood draws, TB skin tests, urine pregnancy tests, and injections.
- Prepare patients for examinations and medical procedures.
- Support healthcare providers during examinations, surgical procedures, and cosmetic treatments.
- Accurately document patient diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescriptions in Electronic Medical Records.
- Educate patients and their families regarding follow-up care, medication effects, and treatment guidelines.
- Ensure sterilization of medical instruments and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits and ensure cleanliness at the end of the day.
- Adhere to OSHA standards and legal regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Protect patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Exhibit outstanding customer service and patient care skills.
- Engage in staff meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
1-3 years in a medical office setting is preferred.
Knowledge:
Understanding of basic nursing principles, infection control policies, and patient confidentiality procedures.
Skills:
Proficient in phlebotomy and patient assessment techniques, with a strong grasp of safety and confidentiality practices.
Abilities:
Work collaboratively with healthcare teams, respond effectively in emergencies, and communicate clearly with patients and staff. Flexibility in adapting to changing demands and managing workload is essential. Completion of a Certified Dermatology Technician course is expected within the first 90 days of employment.
Working Environment:
This role involves a combination of office and clinical settings, with frequent exposure to various health-related conditions.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
The position requires a range of physical activities, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates must possess manual dexterity and the ability to operate office equipment, with occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. The role may involve working under pressure.
