Position Summary:
As an Armed Transportation Security Officer, you will be responsible for the secure and efficient transport of individuals under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security. Your role is critical in maintaining the integrity of the transportation process while adhering to established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct transportation duties in accordance with established standards and training.
- Document all detainee transports meticulously, ensuring the safety of records and possessions.
- Communicate any route changes to relevant supervisory personnel promptly.
- Obtain necessary documentation from transferring facilities prior to transport.
- Report any safety issues related to transportation immediately and manage vehicle repair orders.
- Perform pre-trip inspections on assigned vehicles and complete post-transport checks.
- Ensure all required equipment is present in the vehicle before departure.
- Maintain compliance with post orders and protocols if stationed at a guard post.
- Carry necessary identification and permits at all times.
- Document and report any incidents or accidents during transportation duties.
- Conduct initial screenings and thorough searches of detainees upon entry into processing areas.
- Provide necessary meals and access to water for detainees during transport.
- Conduct regular checks on detainee holding areas and maintain proper documentation.
- Utilize the EADM system for accurate detainee information management.
- Ensure safe custody and control of detainees and security equipment throughout the transport process.
- Operate various vehicles safely, including sedans and larger transport vehicles.
- Maintain a valid Armed Guard/Firearms permit and undergo regular training and recertification.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in law enforcement or military police, or six months as a security officer with relevant experience.
- Active communication capabilities and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid New Jersey Permit to Carry.
- Current New Jersey Security Officer Registration.
- Valid Driver's License or Commercial Driver's License.
- Active federal background investigation clearance.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires maintaining a high level of mental alertness and physical condition to perform essential functions effectively.
Work Environment:
The job involves working in a transportation vehicle, ensuring the safety and security of detainees while adhering to health and safety protocols.
