The Cultural Programs Manager is a vital member of the Education Department, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Public Programs. As part of the Adult Programs team, the manager will oversee events that connect with temporary exhibitions, the museum's collection, and relevant societal themes, utilizing various formats such as panel discussions, author presentations, performances, and gallery events.
The Cultural Programs Manager is instrumental in facilitating both onsite and virtual programming. They are expected to possess a creative mindset and a robust background in art history, studio art, or museum education. Qualified candidates may also have the chance to manage select program partnerships or conduct research for future initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and coordinate all pre- and post-event documentation, including agreements and payment forms for speakers.
- Research and propose program ideas while coordinating with speakers and performers regarding logistical details.
- Assist in tracking budgets, attendance, and grant reporting.
- Collaborate with the Security and Operations teams to ensure proper setup and logistics for events.
- Support the Associate Director of Public Programs with event preparations, including liaising with AV teams for technical needs and Box Office staff to ensure a seamless experience for attendees.
- Work alongside the Digital Asset Manager to maintain an organized archive of photos and videos; ensure timely posting of recordings from onsite events.
- Assist the Senior Manager of Academic Programs with specific academic initiatives, including researching course offerings related to current and upcoming exhibitions and reaching out to professors for potential class visits.
- Help organize training sessions for Adult Per Diem Educators on exhibitions.
- Contribute to program evaluation as needed.
- A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred, ideally in Fine Art, Art History, or Museum Studies.
- 2-4 years of experience in museum education and programming, particularly with adult audiences.
- Strong research and organizational skills are essential; ability to manage and prioritize multiple detailed projects simultaneously.
- A keen interest in contemporary art and music is advantageous.
- A willingness to learn about Jewish culture is important; a background in this area is a plus but not mandatory.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact diplomatically with vendors, museum staff, artists, scholars, and the public.
- Capability to perform moderate physical tasks (such as moving chairs and carrying supplies) and flexibility in work hours, including weekends and evening events.
- A collaborative spirit is essential, along with the ability to work independently on various projects.
Salary Range: $54,075 - $57,000
