Lexington, Virginia, United States Washington and Lee University Full time

Position Overview: The Department of Business Administration at Washington and Lee University is seeking applications for two tenure-track faculty roles in the field of marketing.

Responsibilities: The selected candidates will be responsible for instructing the foundational undergraduate course in marketing management, which is a core component of the Business Administration curriculum. We are particularly interested in individuals who can create and deliver specialized elective courses in their areas of expertise.

Areas of Expertise: Candidates with research or teaching backgrounds in areas such as behavioral marketing, product innovation, advertising strategies, digital marketing, brand management, retail strategies, or service marketing are encouraged to apply. There will also be opportunities to engage with interdisciplinary programs based on individual expertise and interests.

Teaching Commitment: A strong dedication to high-quality teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts context is essential. We value candidates who appreciate interdisciplinary studies and can effectively integrate their course material with other academic disciplines. Additionally, those with diverse teaching methodologies and a keen interest in experiential learning are highly encouraged to submit their applications.

Academic Environment: The academic calendar consists of two 13-week terms, complemented by a unique 4-week spring term. The standard teaching load is five courses annually, with new faculty members starting with a reduced load in their initial year.

Research and Service: In addition to a passion for innovative undergraduate education, we seek candidates who demonstrate the ability to publish scholarly work in business and related fields, and who are enthusiastic about contributing to the university community.

Support for Research: The university offers a generous five-year sabbatical cycle and a pre-tenure research leave program to support faculty research initiatives.

Diversity and Inclusion: We are committed to fostering an inclusive campus environment that values all individuals, regardless of their identity. Our department aims to prepare students for active citizenship by creating an educational atmosphere rich in cultural, social, and intellectual diversity.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and proven teaching effectiveness in marketing are required. Candidates who are ABD must provide evidence of dissertation defense.

Application Process: Interested applicants should submit the following materials through the designated application portal: a letter of application outlining teaching interests and experience, a CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references.

Equal Opportunity Statement: Washington and Lee University is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to high standards of scholarship and professionalism, and to fostering a campus climate that supports equality and diversity among faculty, staff, and students.
