Project Manager Job Description

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Water/Wastewater Division in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the overall performance of projects from estimating to successful completion, ensuring safety, owner satisfaction, cost, schedule, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build strong relationships with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Maintain a positive company image with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Partner with Preconstruction Services for value engineering, bidding, and estimating assistance.
  • Set up and maintain project cost accounting and develop project schedules.
  • Support permitting, testing, and inspection requirements, and negotiate subcontractor agreements.
  • Develop a Schedule of Values and generate monthly payment applications.
  • Review and approve subcontractor pay applications and vendor invoices.
  • Track and evaluate subcontractor change management and facilitate coordination meetings.
  • Manage contracts, bonds, insurance certificates, and warranties, and monitor submittal and shop drawing processes.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, cost reports, and job progress, and review with the project team weekly.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field.
  • Relevant water/wastewater construction experience and experience managing self-perform crews.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a developing leader with five plus years of experience in engineering, construction, or related field.
  • Proven success in completing multimillion-dollar projects.
