Project Manager Job Description

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Water/Wastewater Division in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The successful candidate will oversee project performance from estimating to completion, ensuring safety, owner satisfaction, cost, schedule, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Partner with Preconstruction Services to optimize project value, solicit bidders, and generate proposals.
  • Establish and manage project cost accounting, schedules, and budgets.
  • Support permitting, testing, and inspection requirements.
  • Negotiate subcontractor agreements and equipment/material purchase orders.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost reports.
  • Monitor job progress, production planning boards, quality of work, and safety on the job.
  • Manage change orders, extra work orders, and disputed claims with owners and representatives.
  • Resolve major disputes with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Provide owner training and turnover contract close-out deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field.
  • Relevant water/wastewater construction experience.
  • Experience managing self-perform crews is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Developing leader and team player with five plus years of experience in engineering, construction, or related field.
  • Proven success in completing multimillion-dollar projects.
Technical Skills:
  • Computer-based CPM Scheduling Programs.
  • Construction Management Software.
  • Microsoft Office Products.
