About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work with our medical providers and coding staff to ensure accurate coding and documentation practices. As a Documentation-Coding Educator, you will be responsible for conducting provider coding education, auditing documentation for accuracy, and providing support to staff on coding-related questions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Coding Manager and Compliance Team to provide remedial and ongoing education to providers on documentation discrepancies.
  • Work with the Coding Manager and Compliance Team to support new provider onboarding and orientation, providing documentation and coding education.
  • Audit and review documentation in our medical record system to ensure accuracy and understanding of coding and documentation concepts.
  • Perform internal retrospective, concurrent, or prospective medical chart audits to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Research third-party payer medical and administrative policies to inform our clinical and billing operations.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and presentations to educate providers and staff on accurate coding and documentation practices.
  • Provide ongoing coding feedback and training to physicians and non-physician practitioners.
  • Maintain knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, and third-party requirements.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Business/Healthcare preferred.
  • At least three years of recent coding experience required; one year of coding and documentation auditing experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required; CPMA or equivalent auditing certification preferred.
