BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This role is situated within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), specifically in the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), Audit and Criminal Investigation Administration (ACI). The incumbent will independently execute both office and field assessments and audit inquiries concerning complex tax returns submitted by individuals, partnerships, fiduciaries, unincorporated entities, and corporations. Responsibilities encompass but are not limited to: conducting thorough audits to ascertain tax obligations for all principal taxes; providing recommendations and determinations regarding accurate tax liabilities; reconstructing business activities when taxpayer documentation is insufficient, absent, falsified, or poorly organized; and liaising with the taxpayer or their authorized representative to gather documentation that substantiates the information declared on the audited return. Additional related tasks may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of progressive experience in related duties and responsibilities, including analyzing, compiling, and interpreting tax and/or financial data, applying accounting and financial analysis techniques to make informed decisions and reach appropriate conclusions, and assisting in the preparation of audit and/or financial reports. The incumbent must possess effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrated analytical abilities, and the capacity to exercise sound judgment.

In addition - Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited US institution in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration, which includes or is supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. This may encompass up to six (6) hours of business law. Official transcripts verifying a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting must be submitted for consideration. If applicable, foreign credential evaluations must be provided by organizations recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
Specialized Experience

Experience that equips the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position, typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
