Job SummaryUnder the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Tech will assist in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by Registered Nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Assist patients with positioning, lifting, and turning, and use adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and answer call lights promptly to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean environment.
- Obtain and label specimens consistent with established procedures.
- Mentor and teach new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
The Patient Care Tech will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Patient Care Tech will be required to lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and will be expected to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor weather conditions, and will be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
