Position Overview

The Visual Communication Specialist will primarily focus on the design and modification of various graphic materials for high-stakes standardized assessments. The complexity of the graphics will vary based on project requirements and subject matter. Adhering to specific protocols set by the Assessment Design and Development (AD&D) team is crucial in this role. The ability to adapt to different assignments and maintain a fast-paced workflow is essential. Additionally, the Specialist may support senior team members in the layout and production of professional development resources, testing booklets, annotations, scoring guides, and other related materials. This position allows for remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and modify graphics using Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Digitally enhance photographs and artwork, integrating these visuals into various documents.
  • Adhere to project-specific guidelines and processes for graphic design.
  • Exhibit flexibility in managing workload, adapting to changing timelines and project demands.
  • Communicate effectively with editors regarding design specifications for graphics and layouts.
  • Collaborate with team members to propose improvements to the design process.
  • Work alongside the internal Design Team to implement effective solutions that ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year of experience in graphic design, with a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, or a related field.
  • Proficient in creating intricate vector and line art using Adobe Creative Suite (including Illustrator, Acrobat, and Photoshop).
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with large-scale print projects or high-stakes test form production using desktop publishing software, such as Adobe InDesign.
  • Background in developing graphics for assessment content.
  • Knowledge of designing with visual accessibility considerations, including for colorblind individuals.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with creating animations for online platforms using Animate CC or similar software.
