Overview

The Phillips Collection's Internship program is designed to provide college students and recent graduates with meaningful work, educational experiences, and real-life practice in their fields of academic study and/or interest.

The Advancement Department is responsible for fundraising approximately 60% of the museum's annual operating budget by identifying, securing, and stewarding financial support from individuals, institutions, and special events.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Major and Planned Giving team in accelerating projects related to individual giving
  • Connect with the entire Advancement Department to learn different aspects of fundraising and donor relations
  • Gain knowledge about the nonprofit fundraising process in the arts & culture and/or museum fields
  • Develop skills in donor and prospect research, professional writing, CRM/database utilization, and staff special events
  • Assist with tours, reviewing invitation lists, and mailings to engage donors
Requirements
  • Junior and senior undergraduates, graduates, and recent graduates
  • Strong written, organizational, and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while working with confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage priorities
  • Passion about promoting accessibility in the arts and museums
