The Process Technician is a key member of the Novipax team, responsible for improving the efficiency of the pad department. This includes troubleshooting operational and quality issues, prioritizing maintenance and preventative maintenance activities, and ensuring that converting equipment meets or exceeds manufacturing and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Process Optimization: Responsible for the daily activities of the technical aspects of converting processes to ensure a controlled process is being run and overall safety practices are being followed.
- Equipment Management: Oversee and complete converting machine start up and shut down processes, following company standards.
- Troubleshooting: Conduct real-time assessments, making necessary adjustments or scheduling maintenance actions as required.
- Problem-Solving: Primary contact for troubleshooting of converting process/equipment problems, analyze problems/solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Support the manufacturing of quality product thru material changes and equipment maintenance.
- Process Improvement: Ensure that proper start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting procedures are followed.
- Compliance: Ensure that product specifications and quality procedures are followed.
- Continuous Improvement: Support Continuous Improvement by proposing and supporting longer term processing solutions that will reduce costs by way of improved scrap rates, enhanced throughput, and optimized efficiency.
- Documentation: Ensure all processes are running to baseline and that any changes are properly evaluated and documented with the appropriate change form.
- Collaboration: Assist Engineering and R&D teams with trials and improvement opportunities.
- Equipment Maintenance: Improve the equipment and processes to meet current and future business state, to include implementing and tracking projects to completion.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and coordination between operators and maintenance technicians/team.
- Waste Reduction: Work with Continuous Improvement and Quality teams to reduce customer complaints and improve waste performance.
- Equipment Integrity: Ensure equipment integrity through timely replacements and repairs of deficiencies, by coordinating with maintenance and operations.
- Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate knowledge transfer through partnership with Continuous Improvement team by documenting, training and SOP creation.
- Spare Parts Management: Provide guidance on the management of spare parts inventory.
- Operator Training: Provide leadership and direction to operators by coaching and training on manufacturing line specific needs for optimization.
- Scheduling: Work with central planning on efficient scheduling of machine.
- Mentorship: Acts as a mentor/coach for other employees.
- Staffing Feedback: Provide staffing feedback to production manager and suggest improvement opportunities.
- Education: High school diploma, technical degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: Five or more years of experience operating continuous manufacturing equipment.
- Technical Skills: Experience performing mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems repair is a requirement.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Language: Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
