Role Summary:
Responds to inquiries from patients and their families regarding menu selections and utilizes dietary software to manage orders.


Guides patients or their family members through the ordering process in a supportive manner, providing suggestions as necessary.

Handles new dietary orders, transfers, and discharges.

Processes meal requests for patients unable to place orders via phone or those with preselected menu options.


Identifies and contacts patients who have not ordered meals, facilitating their meal choices or documenting reasons for any refusals.

Records patient food preferences in the dietary software.

Redirects calls when questions cannot be addressed directly.

Collaborates with other departments, such as nursing, to address special dietary needs.


This position requires maintaining frequent contact with patients and their families, exemplifying exceptional service.

Ensures accuracy and appropriateness of menu orders in relation to prescribed dietary requirements.

Monitors patient meal orders and communicates any skipped meals or recurring small meal orders to the appropriate clinical dietitian.

Processes nourishment requests and tracks tube feeding orders for the units.

Effectively communicates any concerns or issues to dietitians or management as needed.

For administrative purposes, monitors, collects, and records operational data.

Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 1 year of experience in a call center or related customer service role.

Experience in food service, hospitality, or customer service is preferred.

Demonstrated abilities in customer service, critical thinking, problem-solving, and both written and verbal communication.

Ability to make informed decisions while processing information quickly.

Proficient in computer and web-based software, with adaptability to regular software updates and changes.

Knowledge of modified diets is preferred.

Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.

Ability to follow and provide clear oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with patients, their families, hospital staff, and colleagues.
