Position Overview
An Electrical Engineer EIT at Clark Nexsen will play a crucial role in supporting the design, engineering, analysis, equipment selection, and system layout of electrical systems for diverse building design projects, including commercial, educational, and governmental facilities of varying scales.

Key Responsibilities
As part of your role, you will be tasked with:

  • Assisting in various aspects of Electrical Engineering design under the guidance of Senior Engineers, which includes conceptual studies, program requirements, design analysis, calculations, and layout of systems for building design, upgrades, and retrofits.
  • Engaging with clients as required to gather project requirements and feedback.
  • Collaborating with other engineers and design team members to ensure seamless integration of electrical design with other disciplines.
  • Adhering to the firm's quality control policies and procedures.
  • Learning and applying departmental and company standards.
  • Preparing comprehensive electrical project documentation, including programming, schematic designs, design development, and construction documents.
  • Providing support during the bidding process by preparing necessary addenda and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Offering electrical construction phase services, including on-site representation, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.
  • Participating in team meetings and coordinating efforts with colleagues.
  • Working under the supervision of Senior Engineers and Project Managers on projects of medium to large scope.

Project Responsibilities
Your project responsibilities will encompass:

  • Performing tasks as directed by Engineers or Senior Engineers.
  • Ensuring clarity and organization of project documents.
  • Coordinating discipline drawings effectively.
  • Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals for electrical design work.
  • Drafting marked-up plans, sections, and details.
  • Creating schematic-level plans and details for projects of moderate to high complexity.
  • Developing accurate three-dimensional models using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software when required.
  • Resolving system conflicts through design options.
  • Assisting with building systems calculations and LEED templates.
  • Participating in building code analysis and development of discipline specifications.
  • Maintaining adherence to project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Designation as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or equivalent in at least one US state.
  • A commitment to pursuing Professional Engineer licensure (PE) within the eligibility timeframe.
  • An understanding of sustainable design principles and practices, with a desire to pursue LEED AP accreditation.
  • Active membership in relevant professional organizations, such as IEEE or IES, is a plus.
  • 1-4 years of relevant post-graduation experience in electrical engineering, including building power distribution systems and lighting design.
  • Experience with construction documents and coordination with design teams.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards.
