OVERVIEW
Lead and oversee one or more accounting teams, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory standards. Responsible for the timely preparation and examination of all necessary regulatory submissions. Provide guidance in the annual budgeting process and generate accounting reports for senior management. Review submissions from accountants and manage the accounting closing processes. Conduct analyses on financial and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and supervise the development, analysis, and application of accounting standards within the unit.
- Oversee accounting research and compliance matters related to complex accounting projects.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing future accounting initiatives.
- Review contracts and apply GAAP to determine appropriate revenue recognition.
- Complete revenue recognition documentation for contracts as necessary.
- Act as a consultant to business divisions regarding expected contract revenue recognition based on proposed contract structures and terms.
- Coordinate the execution of Standard Selling Price analyses as required.
- Manage the completion of revenue footnote disclosures within quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Supervise the accounting procedures of the organization.
- Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.
- Develop policies, systems, and special financial studies of significant importance.
- Utilize broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and the ability to address complex accounting issues.
- Handle confidential data, which if disclosed, could have significant internal implications.
- Contribute accounting and financial insights to strategic planning and direction, establishing functional objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Establish operational strategies by evaluating trends, setting critical measurements, and designing systems.
- Provide financial forecasts by coordinating budget and forecast preparation, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.
- Achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate closely with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits, maintaining an effective control environment over external financial reporting.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting management.
- Master's degree in accounting or a related financial discipline.
- At least two (2) years of experience with a Big 4 firm is highly preferred.
- Experience with Revenue Recognition.
- Ability to supervise and mentor a team of accountants.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- Extensive experience and judgment to plan and achieve team objectives.
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles and their application.
- Proficiency in Office 365 software programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge in forecasting, financial planning, and financial analysis.
- Strategic planning skills.
- Ability to lead under pressure.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and the public.
