Job Overview: Direct Federal Credit Union is a progressive and member-focused financial institution dedicated to empowering our members with the necessary resources to achieve their financial aspirations. The Vice President of Strategy, Culture & Engagement will play a pivotal role in fostering a productive, inclusive, and enjoyable workplace environment, driving the strategic vision of Direct Federal Credit Union through effective leadership. This position is essential in advancing the organization's people strategy, enhancing employee growth, and cultivating a robust culture of engagement within the Credit Union. The individual will collaborate closely with the Chief Strategy Officer and engage with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a vibrant work environment that enhances employee satisfaction and loyalty. Ensure the establishment of a high-performing, mission-driven culture by assessing staff morale, addressing organizational challenges, and implementing solutions to boost effectiveness and health through targeted initiatives. Commit to equity and excellence by developing policies that promote inclusion for all staff and volunteers. Formulate and present a comprehensive strategy for culture and engagement that aligns with the organization's values and mission. Oversee the execution of strategic plans and report on progress towards achieving goals and metrics. Research and propose innovative ideas to enhance culture and employee engagement. Develop and manage Employee Resource Groups. Serve as a brand ambassador and cultivate strong relationships within the organization and the community to expand connections.
  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of annual strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer. Participate in strategic planning sessions as needed, providing support to the board and executives on matters related to culture reinforcement, goal setting, policy development, and strategic objective implementation. Conduct market research and data analysis to gain insights into member preferences and needs.
  • Design internal communication strategies that promote awareness and engagement, reinforcing the Credit Union's culture and brand. Manage internal communication platforms to ensure employees are informed about engagement opportunities. Lead the planning and execution of Town Halls, Employee Events, and Offsite Meetings.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of the employee rewards program. Facilitate the annual employee engagement survey process and monitor outcomes to enhance employee engagement and workplace satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and organizational policies. Prepare and present regular performance reports, including metrics on employee satisfaction, retention, rewards programs, and strategic initiatives. Support the Credit Union in achieving its objectives. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in strategy, culture, and engagement, with a focus on strategic planning, enterprise communications, change management, training, or employee support initiatives within the financial services sector. Strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of employee motivation and engagement strategies. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with all organizational levels, driving engagement and fostering a positive culture. Creative in developing programs that align with organizational goals. Proven relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders. Detail-oriented with the capability to manage complex projects. A strategic mindset with strong multitasking abilities. Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in financial services may be considered in lieu of formal education at a 2:1 ratio.

  • In-depth understanding of regulations affecting lending programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of consumer and real estate lending practices.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple project demands.
