Overview

This position is designated for an Air Reserve Technician (ART) role. ARTs are integral to the civil service and enjoy comprehensive benefits associated with federal employment. Additionally, ARTs must maintain active membership in their assigned Air Force Reserve unit. On average, ARTs participate in military training one weekend each month.

Key Responsibilities

The primary function of this role is: to act as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, modification, overhaul, servicing, and dispatching of powered and non-powered aerospace ground support equipment. This role also includes training reservists in the execution of the outlined tasks.

Specific Duties Include:

1. Conducting inspections, troubleshooting, calibrating, installing, testing, repairing, removing, aligning, modifying, overhauling, and performing major maintenance on complex powered and non-powered aerospace ground support systems, including Nuclear Certified Equipment (NCE).

2. Executing periodic/scheduled services, special inspections, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), Operational Technical Inspections (OTIs), and preventive maintenance on complex powered and non-powered aerospace ground support systems, including NCE.

3. Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, aligning, calibrating, and performing functional and final testing of integrated electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.

4. Reviewing, verifying, and documenting equipment/component forms/tags and Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) to accurately reflect maintenance actions performed, including initiating Nuclear Certified Equipment (NCE) reports.

5. Adhering to safety standards in compliance with State and Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, AF Environmental Compliance Assessment Management Program (ECAMP), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

  • Must be a current member of the Air Force Reserve or qualified to join.
Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated based on their knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in areas such as:
  1. Understanding of electrical principles (AC/DC), solid-state circuitry, and safety regulations pertaining to aerospace ground equipment.
  2. Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and technical publications.
  3. Experience in installing, operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining generators and internal combustion engines.
  4. Capability to troubleshoot complex electronic, hydraulic, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  5. Ability to apply shop procedures and provide training to others.

Work may involve physical activities such as lifting, pushing, and standing for extended periods. The environment may include exposure to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous materials, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
