Job Summary and Qualifications
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the specific requirements of the department, consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

As an essential part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.


Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Perform diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with the placement of artificial airways.
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and notify providers to intervene as necessary in the event of unintended responses.
- Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

Qualifications:
- NBRC accredited RRT credential or CRT if grandfathered in.
- Current Colorado Respiratory License.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA or ARC are required.
- PALS and NRP preferred.
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapist Program.
- Minimum of 6 months of previous experience.
