Job Summary

As a key member of the Office of Human Resources at Kentucky State University, the Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of HR practices and processes. This role reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for managing, coordinating, planning, implementing, and administering the university's employee relations and classification systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Manage the employment process, including job advertisements, applicant screening, job offers, and affirmative action. Conduct investigations, prepare documentation, and make recommendations for corrective/disciplinary action in accordance with University policies and EEOC guidelines.
  • Classification: Review job descriptions, including pay grade assignments and exempt/non-exempt status, in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Maintain relevant Banner validation forms and rule tables.
  • General Management: Participate in the review and development of departmental operating procedures and systems. Create a positive work environment, provide clear objectives for staff, and advise employees, supervisors, and managers on policy interpretation and application.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as human resource management or business.
  • Five (5) years' experience in personnel management, including employee relations, benefits administration, and job classification.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience with an administrative software application, such as Banner and HRIS, is highly desirable.
Working Conditions
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
