Position: Home Health Aide (HHA) for Social Adult Day Care (SADC) Program

Role Summary:

The Home Health Aide (HHA) plays a vital role in providing essential support to individuals in a community setting. As an integral member of the care team, the HHA works under the supervision of qualified staff, continuously enhancing their skills and competencies in delivering compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

This list outlines typical duties that an HHA may perform, tailored to each resident's care plan:

  1. Personal Care:
  • Assisting with bathing in various settings (bed, chair, tub, shower)
  • Supporting toileting needs
  • Hair care and grooming
  • Oral hygiene assistance
  • Bed making
  • Helping with dressing
  • Assisting with mobility
  • Transferring individuals between surfaces
  • Nail care, unless contraindicated
  • Monitoring and recording dietary intake
Specialized Care:
  • Accompanying clients to medical appointments
  • Assisting with mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)
  • Providing reminders for medication administration.
Program Support:
  • Facilitating meals for participants
  • Encouraging involvement in activities of choice
  • Assisting with daily living activities
  • Supporting community engagement outings
  • Helping with self-medication as per physician's instructions
Engagement:

Encouraging mental stimulation through conversation, games, and reading.

Reporting:

Communicating any changes in the participant's condition to the supervising staff.

Emotional Support:

Providing basic emotional and psychological support to participants.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of an approved training program for HHAs.
  2. Minimum age of 18, demonstrating maturity and emotional stability.
  3. Proficiency in English and the predominant language of residents.
  4. Able to follow instructions and maintain simple records.
  5. Exhibiting a compassionate approach to care.
  6. Maintaining good physical health as per HR documentation.
  7. Participation in ongoing education and training annually.
