Job Summary

The Oak Grove School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Child Development Center, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for a multi-aged preschool group.
  • Interact daily with each child and their learning processes, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Assist parents and caregivers with the separation process, offering physical and emotional support as needed.
  • Provide direct support to children in play and learning experiences, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Establish a climate of respect for each child as an individual, recognizing and valuing their unique needs and abilities.
  • Respond sensitively to racial and ethnic diversity, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children and families.
  • Participate in formal and informal communication regarding children's behavior, development, and program practice, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high-quality care and education.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly classroom and play yard, adhering to health and safety standards for food handling, toileting, and universal precautions.
  • Comply with State Department of Education, Child Development Division Funding Terms and Conditions, Title 5 regulations, and Title 22 Community Care Licensing Regulations.

Requirements:

  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit issued by the State of California within the probationary period.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification (infant/child/adult) issued by the American Red Cross, Heart Association, or other authorized agency.
  • Completion of health and safety training required by Title 22 Community Care Licensing Regulations within the probationary period.
  • Any combination equivalent to twelve (12) units of ECE/CD including core courses, and experience amounting to at least fifty (50) days of three (3) plus hours per day within the last two years, or Alternative Qualifications including Child Development Associate Credentials or CTC approved training.

Physical Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to regularly stand and walk for long periods, use hands and fingers to write, operate audio-visual equipment, or pass out materials, reach with arms and hands, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch to work with children, speak clearly and distinctly, and hear sufficiently to communicate with others. The ability to lift, carry, and/or move instructional materials and equipment weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds is also required. Occasionally, the candidate may need to lift children weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. The ability to see and assist and monitor children in the classroom or on the playground is essential.
