Job Overview

As a Site Safety Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing safety operations for construction projects in the New York City metro area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce applicable construction site safety programs in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee and manage all site activities related to safe work practices, including reviewing construction/engineering designs and plans.
  • Ensure subcontractors perform required safety actions and duties, including fire/life safety, safety training, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform daily safety inspection report audits and related testing and verification of operational safety readiness.
  • Coordinate with other safety personnel and the General Contractor's office to ensure safety compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety and health, or a related field.
  • NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Licensed Site Safety Manager.
  • A valid Supervisor (62-hr) SST Card.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with a minimum of 15 years of professional construction safety experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NYC DOB licensed Construction Superintendent.
  • Experience working on NYCDDC projects or with other public, local, state, or government agencies.
  • Active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

This is a contract-based full-time position, expected to start in fall 2024 and complete by May 2026. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data, apply occupational safety and health standards, and offer recommendations for improvement.
