Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in enhancing Arizona's educational framework through informed decision-making and the creation of professional development initiatives aimed at elevating math proficiency for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, execution, and assessment of professional development programs focused on customizing math instruction and implementing necessary modifications and accommodations to support students with disabilities.
  • Offer guidance and coaching to educators, public education agencies, and other stakeholders to foster inclusionary practices that enhance academic achievement in the least restrictive environment.
  • Develop and distribute resources and guidance documents, while providing technical support through various communication channels to improve math skills among students with disabilities.
  • Engage in strategic planning processes that leverage data analysis to identify improvement areas, prioritize professional learning, and assess the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
  • Collaborate with teacher training programs and educational organizations to enhance the preparation of educators in mathematics instruction and identify emerging trends and needs.
  • Participate in various departmental projects and professional learning opportunities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Arizona Mathematics Standards.
  • Experience in specially designed instruction and multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis to monitor educational progress.
  • A Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent experience is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in special education or mathematics is highly regarded.
  • Experience in collaborative teaching between special and general education.
