Literacy Support Specialist (Part-time)

General Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the educational leadership team, including the Assistant Superintendent and the Director of Literacy, this role focuses on providing targeted support to students.

The Literacy Support Specialist is tasked with delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions tailored to the diverse needs of learners. This includes assessing student progress through various evaluation methods, maintaining open communication with families, and effectively managing classroom behavior.

Additionally, the Literacy Support Specialist is expected to engage in ongoing professional development and foster collaboration with parents and the community.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Analyze student assessment data to provide timely, research-based interventions in core subjects for students requiring additional support.

2. Collect, organize, and interpret data for students identified for intervention.


3. Implement effective instructional strategies and utilize research-backed materials to address the learning needs of students.

4. Demonstrate intervention techniques through small group instruction.


5. Evaluate student achievement data and administer assessments as necessary to monitor progress.

6. Share insights and data from interventions with educational staff.


7. Maintain a conducive learning environment by managing student behavior effectively.


8. Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to design and implement intervention strategies.


9. Keep accurate records of student progress and communication with parents as required by educational policies.


10. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional strategies and support effective resource utilization.

11. Adhere to district policies and maintain professional conduct as outlined in educational standards.


12. Ensure confidentiality of all student and personnel records.


Qualifications:

1. An Associate's Degree is required.

2. A valid teaching certificate is preferred.

3. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential.

4. Proficiency in utilizing technology for communication and instructional purposes.


Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the educational leadership may also be considered.


Compensation:

The position offers a competitive hourly wage, with a maximum of 25 hours per week.
