ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for preparing and documenting asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account data. This role maintains and reconciles account ledgers by verifying, allocating, posting, and resolving discrepancies. Additionally, the Senior Accounting Specialist will assist with general accounts payable and receivable tasks. This position requires a high level of discretion regarding judgment, confidentiality, employee information, and financial records. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential to manage various tasks and deadlines effectively.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares and documents asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries through comprehensive account analysis.
  • Maintains and reconciles account ledgers by verifying, allocating, posting, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Generates accurate accounting reports and presents findings effectively.
  • Assists with additional projects and tasks as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience with 2-4 years in the accounting field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in gathering and analyzing information efficiently and accurately.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and timely follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proactive approach to tasks, taking initiative without waiting for direction.
  • Exceptional computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel (including Vlookups and pivot tables), Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience in the Food & Beverage industry is advantageous.
