Job Summary

The Café Manager (Float) is a key member of the SLA Management team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the designated area. This is a full-time position, typically working 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management: Complete assigned duties and administrative tasks as directed by SLA Management leaders.
  2. Resource Management: Ensure adequate staffing and supply levels to meet operational needs.
  3. Food Service Operations: Implement various functions, including food quality, production, planning, purchasing, and facility maintenance.
  4. Marketing and Sales: Collaborate with SLA Management leaders to develop and execute an in-unit marketing strategy.
  5. Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation, adhering to ServSafe guidelines, child nutrition regulations, and federal, state, and local laws governing school food service.
  6. Cleanliness and Preparation: Ensure proper techniques for maintenance of cleanliness and preparation of food and kitchen areas.
  7. Inventory Management: Submit orders for food, kitchen supplies, and office supplies, and maintain accurate inventory levels.
  8. Attendance and Scheduling: Track attendance and ensure team members follow their schedules, clock in and out, and adhere to basic policies and standard operating procedures.
  9. Menu Planning and Execution: Plan, coordinate, oversee, and participate in the preparation, cooking, and serving of menu items.
  10. Cash Handling and Deposits: Ensure accurate payment information and complete deposits of cash as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Strong Work Ethic and Team Player: Demonstrate a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with various levels of management.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Exhibit strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing abilities.
  • Criminal Background Check and Fingerprint Analysis: Pass an extensive nationwide criminal background check and fingerprint analysis.
  • POS and Online Reporting Systems: Experience with POS and online reporting systems is highly desirable.
  • Education and Certification: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be willing to obtain ServSafe certification prior to assuming the Café Manager position.
  • Food Service Experience: Previous experience in the food service industry is preferred.
  • Basic Math and Computer Skills: Possess basic math skills and computer proficiency.
  • Reliable Transportation: Ensure reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Customer-Focused: Demonstrate a customer-focused attitude, enjoying working with people and being around children.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Inventory Management and Food Ordering: Experience with inventory management and food ordering is strongly preferred.
