Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel Technology to join our team at AAA - American Automobile Association. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in negotiating technology agreements, providing data security and privacy advice, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, draft, and negotiate technology agreements, including software licenses, data licenses, and professional services agreements.
  • Provide expert advice on data security and privacy matters, including software license audits, open-source software use, and internal policies and laws.
  • Collaborate closely with legal and client teams to develop and implement data incident response plans, manage data incidents, and lead tabletop exercises and internal presentations.
  • Support the development and drafting of privacy notices and policies, and assist senior counsel on matters related to privacy, data security, intellectual property, and technology transactions.
  • Identify and implement new processes, contract templates, playbooks, and training materials to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our legal team.
Requirements
  • A J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing of the California Bar (or eligible to practice as a California registered in-house counsel).
  • At least 3 years' experience as a technology transactions attorney with significant experience in software and data licensing transactions, as well as data privacy agreements.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to express complex legal matters in clear, concise, business-friendly language.
  • A passion for technology, privacy, and data security, including contracts, dealmaking, and helping clients drive deals and work with software vendors.
  • A curious nature, and a desire to constantly improve processes and strategy with a positive, team-oriented, can-do attitude.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary range of $152,000 - $203,000, plus eligibility for our incentive program based on organization, team, and personal performance.
