Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Transcriptionist to join our team at Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing physicians' daily chart notes, correspondence, histories, and physicals, operative reports, projects, and articles for publication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transcribe and edit physician chart notes, operative reports, histories, and physicals, and other correspondence accurately and proficiently on a daily basis.
  • Proofread and correct all transcriptions prior to submission.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Print documents and accurately file them into charts. Investigate and resolve any missing information.
  • Route appropriate narratives to case management team for billing.
  • Fax dictation per routing on charts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of medical transcription experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology for all clinic services is required.
  • Must be an accurate and proficient typist with basic language and sentence structure skills. Must be able to type 80 wpm from voice recognition dictation equipment utilizing earphones and foot controls.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and voice recognition software preferred.
  • Core competencies in quality, quantity, detail-oriented, communication, and confidentiality.
Work Environment

This position works in a typical medical office environment. There are regular interruptions and significant distractions to work, including phones ringing, patients and staff walking by, noisy conversations that carry, and answering questions asked by others.

This is a mostly sedentary position that requires the ability to move about an office environment and operate office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and fax machines.

The person in this position must frequently communicate with patients, doctors, coworkers, and others utilizing various equipment such as telephones and email.
