Teaching Philosophy
As a part-time instructor in the Medical Assisting Department, you will provide instruction across various levels, including developmental and transfer courses. Your role will involve:
  • Collaborating with colleagues to design innovative curricula that cater to our diverse student population.
  • Prioritizing student retention and success through effective teaching strategies and technology.
  • Teaching in various formats and locations to accommodate the needs of the college.

Selection Process
This position is part of an open applicant pool. Candidates will be contacted based on the college's needs. Screening will be based on the completeness of the application package, which includes:
  • A resume
  • A letter of interest
  • Official transcripts
  • A one-page statement of teaching philosophy
  • A list of courses taught and the semesters

Position Requirements
This is an on-campus role, and candidates must be residents of Colorado by the start of employment. Qualified candidates will remain in a talent pool for future opportunities.

Compensation
The salary for part-time instructors varies based on course type, contact ratio, and experience. For detailed information, please refer to the Part-Time Instructor Pay Matrix.

Benefits
Part-time instructors may qualify for medical health insurance based on annual hours worked. Additionally, instructors earn sick leave at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

Primary Responsibilities
As an instructor, your duties will include:
  • Participating in curriculum development
  • Delivering instruction and hands-on training
  • Preparing for lectures and practical activities
  • Following departmental grading and evaluation procedures
  • Monitoring student performance and ensuring safety
  • Maintaining clinical supplies and equipment

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in the following areas are preferred:
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Administrative Medical Assisting, including billing and coding
  • Clinical skills such as EKG, wound care, and vital signs
  • Laboratory skills, including phlebotomy

Educational Background
Applicants should possess a related Associate's degree or relevant industry certification, along with 4,000 verified occupational hours within the last 5 years. Alternatively, a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 18 discipline-related credits and the same occupational hours is acceptable.

Experience Requirements
Registered or Certified Medical Assistants, or those with applicable degrees, should have at least two years of relevant work experience within the last five years. Teaching experience may be considered in lieu of recent occupational hours for qualified candidates.
