Position Summary

The Medical Transcription Specialist is responsible for accurately transcribing daily notes, correspondence, histories, physicals, operative reports, and articles for publication as dictated by physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently types and edits physician documentation, including chart notes and operative reports, ensuring precision and clarity.
  • Proofreads and rectifies all transcriptions before submission to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology relevant to all clinic services.
  • Prints and organizes documents, ensuring proper filing and resolution of any missing information.
  • Coordinates narratives with the case management team for billing purposes.
  • Facilitates the faxing of dictations as per established protocols.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned to support the team.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in medical transcription.
  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must exhibit proficiency in typing with a minimum speed of 80 wpm using voice recognition equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and voice recognition software is advantageous.
  • Core competencies include attention to detail, effective communication, and maintaining confidentiality.
Work Environment

The role is situated in a typical office setting, where the employee must navigate a bustling environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and using hands for typing and operating equipment.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with frequent use of dictation equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 10 pounds, performed safely.
  • Visual acuity for close work and the ability to adjust focus as needed.
