Mastectomy and Durable Medical Equipment Fitter

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Fitter and Buyer to join our team at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. As a DME Fitter and Buyer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mastectomy, compression, wig, and cane fittings to our oncology patients and DME customers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient fittings for compression, mastectomy, cane, and wig products, including documentation and patient file creation and maintenance.
- Submit Medicare claims via a third-party vendor.
- Ensure store compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards as a DME supplier.
- Manage DME inventory, including vendor relationships, purchasing, stocking, receiving, pricing, and merchandising.
- Select and purchase DME products for resale within budget and approval from supervisor.
- Direct the work of volunteers during shifts to ensure tasks are complete.
- Open and close the store, including Point of Sale reconciliation and transfers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of garment fitting experience.
- Comfort working with patients in various stages of treatment.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
- Ability to be sensitive to patient needs (emotional and financial).
- Customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Advanced ability in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Point of Sale systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team as the situation requires.
- Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
- Minimum of three years' experience in healthcare or fitting durable medical equipment.
- Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CMF) or trained compression fitter.
- DME product and fitting experience in either mastectomy products, compression, cane, or other DME category.
- Willingness to become a Certified Mastectomy Fitter within six months of starting position.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards for DME suppliers.
- A minimum of two years of retail sales experience.
