Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our team at Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of human resources programs and policies, as well as completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of our Batavia Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Strong employee relations experience, thorough handling of employee investigations, and administering employee performance management.
  • New Hire Orientation: Implements new hire orientation, onboarding, and educating newly hired employees on company policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
  • Employee Records: Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
  • Employee Inquiries: Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Employee Engagement: Creates an employee engagement plan fostering the company culture.
  • Leave Administration: Assist with leave administration, EEOC Reporting, and Succession Planning.
  • Compliance: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Knowledge and Trends: Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Hiring: Interviews and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions at our Batavia Plant; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Requirements
  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent in general discipline of Human Resources, Management, or Business.
  • Experience: Two to Four (2-4) years Human Resources experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Leadership: Demonstrates leadership, creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to work effectively with all constituencies.
  • Flexibility: Able to work flexible or extended hours dependent on business demands when needed.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Communication: Effective oral and written communication.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and coaching skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity: Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
