Job Summary

The Highlands Recreation District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Recreation Services to lead our team and oversee the operations of our recreation center facility and grounds, open space areas, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume full management responsibility of recreation services and activities, including planning, directing, and coordinating all programming through subordinate level supervisors.
  • Manage the development and implementation of District goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the District and each program area.
  • Advise the Board of Directors on staffing and organizational needs, and prepare and propose fiscal budgets for approval.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and agencies to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Report monthly to the Board of Directors and conduct community meetings to stay current with trends and innovations in the field of recreation and administration.
Requirements
  • Four years of increasing responsible experience in a public recreation and park agency, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Parks and Recreation, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification in infant and child CPR.
Physical Demands

The Executive Director of Recreation Services must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds. The ability to lead and interact in group activities is also required.
