Position Overview
The Floating Hospital (TFH), established in 1866, stands as one of the few remaining charity hospitals in New York City. Our mission remains steadfast: providing unrestricted healthcare to everyone who seeks our services, irrespective of immigration status, insurance coverage, or financial capability.
We cater to individuals across all age groups, including infants, school-aged children (5+), youth, and adults. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, TFH is the primary healthcare provider for homeless families residing in shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist individuals entering the clinic.
- Manage all incoming telephone inquiries and provide accurate information to callers.
- Relay messages to the appropriate staff members.
- Guide visitors and patients to their designated areas.
- Answer calls with the TFH greeting, screening and directing them to the relevant departments.
- Confirm patient appointments as instructed.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments as necessary.
- Ensure the reception and waiting areas are kept tidy and organized.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent training/experience, with a minimum of one year of experience in a receptionist or front desk role. A valid NY state driver's or non-driver ID/license is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of customer service principles and practices, along with proficiency in computers and relevant software applications. Strong work ethics, reliability, stress tolerance, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $20.
