Position Overview

The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst plays a crucial role in assessing the creditworthiness of commercial clients by analyzing a wide range of financial and credit data. This position is integral to the decision-making process regarding loan approvals and renewals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough annual evaluations of commercial borrowers and collaborates with the commercial department to prepare necessary reports.
  • Identifies and evaluates significant risks, taking into account both financial and non-financial factors that could affect a borrower's ability to fulfill their obligations.
  • Accurately spreads financial statements and maintains comprehensive financial spreadsheets, while performing preliminary assessments of personal and corporate creditworthiness for potential new clients.
  • Collects and synthesizes relevant data for each credit analysis, determining when to request additional information to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Detects emerging issues within the loan portfolio and proposes appropriate action plans and risk rating modifications as necessary.
  • Supports ongoing maintenance of credit files and overall quality control of commercial loans, assisting the loan origination team with various related tasks.
  • Stays updated on all banking credit policies and regulations, ensuring compliance and documenting any exceptions in current and prospective credit relationships.
  • Occasionally accompanies Commercial Lenders on site visits, inspections, and client meetings.
  • Assists Commercial Loan Officers in structuring commercial loans effectively.
  • Completes assignments punctually, adhering to deadlines while working independently.
  • Reviews appraisals and environmental due diligence as mandated by loan policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Commercial Credit or Banking.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial lending financial analysis and business structures, as well as corporate and personal financial statements to assess creditworthiness and risk.
  • Ability to interpret market data and valuation calculations in appraisal reports.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to work effectively under deadlines and time constraints.
  • Willingness to learn about the Bank's products and services, including commercial lending offerings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with general banking and lending principles.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
