About the Role:
The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank is seeking a skilled Portfolio Manager to join our Commercial Banking team. As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring timely renewals, and maintaining high-quality credit administration and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lenders in managing the approval process, ensuring all required information has been received for proper underwriting.
- Renew or extend lines of credit or maturing loans prior to expiration/maturity.
- Ensure loan terms comply with credit policy and banking regulations.
- Analyze and track financial covenants outlined in legal documents.
- Identify covenant violations and manage waiver processes.
- Monitor construction projects and track borrowings versus remaining availability.
- Monitor portfolio to identify inconsistent grading and initiate grade changes when required.
- Draft Watched Asset Reports for downgraded loans and adhere to quarterly reporting requirements.
- Prepare internal and external documents, including term sheets, commitment letters, and loan modifications.
Customer Support:
- Establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Assist in customer correspondence, including drafting proposal/commitment letters and covenant waivers.
- Support the Commercial Loan Administrator with customer service issues and problem resolution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration.
- Minimum of 3 years of Commercial Credit/Banking and/or related experience.
- Ability to assess financial performance and risk, including identifying ways to mitigate risk to the Bank.
- Knowledge of commercial loan and deposit/treasury products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
