Job Objective: The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the Facilities Management department at the College of Charleston, providing specialized knowledge and support for mechanical systems and infrastructure. This position is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of campus mechanical systems and equipment. The engineer will apply advanced engineering principles to enhance existing standards and procedures tailored to the institution's requirements. Continuous assessment of mechanical engineering challenges will be conducted to propose and implement effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Expertise in Mechanical Systems:** Serve as the primary mechanical engineering resource for the Facilities Management division, addressing mechanical system issues across campus buildings and facilities.

2. **Project Oversight:** Lead the development and management of a mechanical systems capital renewal program, including conducting building audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.

3. **Design and Recommendations:** Provide insights and recommendations for the design of campus building automation systems and mechanical operations, ensuring compliance with established standards.

4. **Construction Coordination:** Oversee the mechanical construction and renovation processes for both new and existing facilities, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in HVAC and mechanical engineering. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical codes and OSHA regulations is essential.
- A valid driver's license is necessary for transportation of equipment and personnel.
- Familiarity with online work order systems and proficiency in electronic devices is advantageous.

Required Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with various stakeholders, including college officials and contractors.
- Proficiency in planning, estimating costs, and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to prepare and present detailed reports and plans for maintenance and repair programs.
- Competence in software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is preferred.
